3.2.2. Inhalation region
(i) Standing. When the occupant is standing, the SVE5
or the inhalation region is large, extending from the mouth
to the lower part of the body as is shown in Fig. 11(2). The
rising stream near the body caused by metabolic heating
pulls the air in lower areas up into the inhalation region,
and the occupant inhales this air. As shown in the horizontal
cross section near the mouth (E–E
section Fig. 11(3)), the
region of inhalation extends out only in front of the face, air
to either side or behind the head is not inhaled at all.
