Summary
As printing technology develops, toner cartridge particles
become smaller and more dangerous. There have been
two dust explosion incidents at recycling facilities, in
Kanagawa, in Japan, in 2008 due to toner particles.
A subsequent study of the hazards of toner particles
related to dust explosion revealed that toner particles are
dangerous compared with most organic solids, even
though they are not classified as hazardous materials in
the UN regulation and the Japanese Fire Service Law.
