Diabetic and decubitus ulcers are wounds that are particularly
likely. In diseased condition like diabetes mellitus, the wound
healing process is grossly impaired, resulting in chronic wounds
which fail to heal and the slow pace of normal wound healing
leaves the body open to life-threatening infections [9]. It becomes a
major health problem for millions of people worldwide. In 2007,
Strausberg et al. [10] reported that the number of patients with
chronic infected wounds increases constantly. Werdin et al. in 2009
[11] reported that in Germany, about 4.5e5 million people are
affected by chronic, non-healing wounds. Many of them with
vascular disease or diabetes suffer from chronic venous leg or foot
ulcers due to a lack of proper wound healing. As a result, they lose
functional ability leading to a poor quality of life and to long-term
