Briefly, 0.6 g of egg shell samples were immersed in 100 mL silver nitrate solution (0.1 mol/L), and ultrasound (40 kHz, 50 W) was conducted for 2 h. Then, the resulting mixture was subjected to magnetic stirring for approximately 2 h; in order that silver ions can be well diffused into the inner pore surface of Artemia shell. Subsequently, the as-obtained shell-Ag + samples were fil- trated and added into 70 mL ethylene glycol solution for 3 h reac- tion. The target Ag 0 particles were well deposited in the skeleton of Artemia eggshells by the conventional reducing process; finally the prepared shell-Ag 0 materials were desiccated at 80 °C for 24 h to achieve nanoparticle immobilization and the shell-Ag composite materials were obtained.
