4. Conclusion
An efficient process for the production of LA from lignocellulosic
biomass has been established using a newly isolated bacterium,
B. coagulans LA204. The fed-batch process was conducted at
50 C and pH 6.0 with 14.4% NaOH-pretreated and washed corn
stover, a cellulase concentration of 30 FPU/g stover, and 10 g/L
yeast extract in a 5-L bioreactor under non-sterile conditions.
The LA titer, yield, and average productivity reached 97.59 g/L,
0.68 g/g stover, and 1.63 g/L/h, respectively.
