Two variables that specifically measure how often workers from different occupations are exposed to hazardous equipment5 or hazardous working conditions6 were used. Possible values are: (1) Never, (2) Once a year or more, but not every month, (3) Once a month or more, but not every week, (4) Once a week or more, but not every day and (5) Ever day. Almost 27.500 randomly selected workers answer a questionnaire that generates, among others, these measures varying from one to five (depending on how often workers self- report their exposition to hazards). A new risk metric varying from one to ten was created by adding both variables.
