Effective on January 1, 2006, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Ltd. ("BTM") and UFJ Bank Limited ("UFJ Bank") merged in accordance with the Japanese law. BTM was the surviving bank and UFJ Bank was the dissolving bank based on the legal structure in Japan. All assets and liabilities, rights and obligations of UFJ Bank were transferred to BTM, and BTM was renamed as "The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd." ("BTMU").
BTMU has accepted all rights, and assumed all obligations of both BTM and UFJ Bank in all aspects.
In Thailand, effective from January 1, 2006, BTMU continues to operate its Bangkok Branch and Bangkok International Banking Facility in accordance with the relative approvals by the authorities.
On September 1, 2006, BTMU has ceased the operation of Bangkok International Banking Facility in accordance with the relative approvals by authorities following the implemantation of Financial Sector Master Plan.
