birds are inspected by collectors and inspectors at the market. Under Inspection 1, collectors will inspect and reject
individual birds at source if an infected bird is detected. Under Inspection 2, market inspectors will inspect and
reject a collector’s consignment of poultry if at least one infected bird is detected. The outputs of the model are the
probability a LBM is infected and prevalence at the LBM for the three scenarios, No Inspection, Inspection 1, and
Inspection 2. For each scenario 1000 iterations were performed and results analysed using the R software package
(R Core Team, 2012).
