Increased Zn concentrations
in plantsmay negatively affect the photosynthetic apparatus and reduce
plant photosynthetic efficiency by inhibiting chlorophyll biosynthesis
and decreasing carbon assimilation (Chen et al., 2008; Dhir et al.,
2008). The excess of Zn may also reduce the rooting capacity and may
even cause leaf chlorosis (Castiglione et al., 2007), which contributes
to plant growth inhibition (Girotto et al., 2013)
