Reading,as it is carried out and taught in school, is primarily seen as way to take in a writer's ideas and accurately reproduce those ideas. Although it is important for a reader to comprehend the ideas of the auther, it is also crucial for him or her to relate what he or she has already known to the author's ideas. In this way, reading is not just only the ability to accurately understand and represent the ideas of the writing. Reading can also viewed as a creative process in which an active reader makes sure that he or she knows not only what the author is saying but also is trying to make connection by using his or her own experience and knowledge of the world to critically examine the author's ideas.
