LOD and LOQ can be achieved by analyzing the gradually
diluted standard solutions to approach 3 and 10 times SNR
(signal-to-noise ratio), respectively. Table 3 indicates the
LODs and LOQs for various compounds, which were
calculated by 10 repeatability analyses. Toluene and 4-
phenylcyclohexene presented lower LODs and LOQs than
those for vinylcyclohexene and styrene by an order of
magnitude. However, compared with those compounds,
vinylchloride and butadiene bear much higher LODs and
LOQs. This is mainly due to their effumability. As shown in
Table 3, vinylchloride and butadiene have very high vapor
pressures and are not prone to be trapped in the SPME fiber
and, thus, produce the low partition coefficients in SPME
fiber.
