Overall, our stover harvest and on-farm storage analysis
suggests a number of different corn stover harvest and storage
systems can be economically viable. This is fortunate given
that successful agricultural systems require flexibility (e.g.,
being able to harvest wet or dry stover depending on weather
around harvest time). This viability of multiple systems may
also allow more farmers to participate in and profit from a
stover collection market that may be able to offer only a single
price to all customers.
