Nursing Implications
The findings of this project contribute to knowledge about an evidence-based method of providing nursing
education for medication administration in nursing home settings, as well as the lessons learned in implementing
a quality improvement project in nursing homes. More studies are needed to determine the best methods for
educating nursing staff. It is known that knowledge alone is not sufficient to change behavior (Francke et al., 1995). Investigation of creative interventions and methods to address nurses’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes, which affect motivation and change behaviors and practices, is needed.
