The first five of these items include the laws as they are usually quoted, while iteins 6 and 7, though taken frointhe gen- eral conclusions of his second paper, are not ordinarily included. This, however, is due niore to Ravenstein's way of number- ing the laws and to his solnewhat tenta- tive statenlent of the dominance of the econonlic motive than to his own estimate of the importance of his conclusions.
