The policy seeks to ensure that planning instruments provide strategic direction about:
• where industrial land uses should be located to protect communities and individuals from
the impacts of air, noise and odour emissions, and the impacts from hazardous materials,
and
• how land for industrial land uses will be protected from unreasonable encroachment by
incompatible land uses.
Planning frameworks have become further refined through the release of the Sustainable
Planning Act 2009 (which supersedes the Integrated Planning Act 2009) to bring together
planning, Local Government and infrastructure responsibilities to deliver integrated solutions
that consider the population and economic challenges to ensure a sustainable future for
Queensland.
The SPP considers the potential for off site impacts from medium impact, high impact, and
