The Meeting discussed Thailand’s request for Bangladesh to remove the requirement of a
“radiation certificate” which has been in place for more than 20 years. Thai side informed that
the measure has caused undue delay and unnecessary burdensome for Thailand’s agricultural and
food products exported to Bangladesh, as it has been proven during the past years that there is
no radiation and contamination on food exports from Thailand. At present, most Thailand’s
trading partners, including the European Union, had a strong confidence on agricultural and food
products from Thailand and have already removed this requirement. Thai side requested
Bangladesh to remove such requirement in order to facilitate trade on agricultural and food
products between the two countries.
