In the fall, Emma Watson delivered a moving, groundbreaking speech on gender equalityat the United Nations that launched her feminist initiative, #HeForShe. In the four months since she gave the speech, Emma says, the conference has been viewed more than 11 million times, and was the subject of 1.2 billion social media conversations.
Many of her fans—and the actress herself—wondered what was next for a movement with such incredible energy and momentum behind it. Today, she announced the next phase of #HeForShe in response to those questions, the Impact 10x10x10 Program. "[The program] is about engaging governments, businesses and universities and having them make concrete commitments to gender equality."
Emma asks for personal stories about triumphs of feminism at work, at home and in interpersonal interactions. “Your commitment… is personal. There is no best way. Everything is valid,” she says—the goal is to collect as many stories as possible so Impact 10x10x10 can share them and inspire. “I’m here to ask you: What is the impact you can have? We want to help, we want to know, and we want to hear from you.”
