We proposed an air system model for diesel engine air system with dual-loop EGR and VGT systems. The proposed model estimated unmeasurable engine states only using equipped sensors on mass product engines. The estimated states are mass, temperature, pressure, and mass flow rate of valves. Efficiency models about turbocharger were determined by a physics based extrapolation method. A time constant for the temperature model and a transport delay for the mass flow rate were obtained to improve transient performance. The proposed model was validated through both engine experiments and vehicle experiments.
