The town of Lewes in East Sussex, on the south
coast of England, is one of the most scenic in the
region. Originally amarketown, it is now the administrative
centre of the regton. Lewes is also home to a
Norman castle, built when the Normans invaded
England in the eleventh century.
Visitors to the castle will be greeted with a panoramic
view of the surrounding countryside and the
English Channel in the distance. There ts also a small
museum with artefacts from the Middle Ages. The
castle is in such good condition that you can almost
hear the cannons booming as battles were fought.
Lewes has a successful handicraft industry, and

Set deep in the Sussex countryside, Lewes is a
beautiful old town, and is so close to the coastthat you
can almost smell the sea air.
