Cumulative incidence of S-ECC
Table 2 presents the incidence of S-ECC in the test and control groups, including test A and test B groups. The incidence of S-ECC in the test group was 1.7% and in the control group 9.6%. This difference was statistically significant (Fisher’s
exact test P < 0.05). If a case definition based on cavitation only was applied, the number of cases shrank to approximately one-quarter. While the incidence was greater in the control group (1.9%) than in the test group (0.4%), it was not significant. The telephone consultation with mothers in the test group A did not influence the incidence of the S-ECC in the test group.
