Plant biomass significantly increased as plants aged but the
earliest signs of negative impact of salinity on plant biomass
appeared six days after initiation of salt treatments (75 and 100
mM NaCl) compared to control condition (Table 2). Plant biomass
was affected by the duration of salt treatment; therefore, the lowest
values were observed in plants treated with 100 mM NaCl at day
16 (Table 2). Increasing salinity from 25 to 100 mM reduced the
amount of TDM increment about 11, 32, 46 and 57%, respectively,
compared to control condition (Table 2). RDM showed to be less
sensitive to NaCl salinity. Mean value indicated that the salttreated
plants could retain RDM efficiently at 75 mM salinity (Table
2). Nevertheless, less increase and development in (RDM)
significantly was observed at higher salinity level (100 mM) at
day 16.
