Joe didn't see Anna very much during the next two days. She was helping his aunt in the maize field and she took his place on trips to the organic shop in Newquay. Newquay was very busy because the weather was so good. There were people everywhere shopping or just sitting in the sun eating ice-creams. Anna asked Joe to stop the car near the town centre. Then he parked the car and decided to look at some of the surfing shops near the cafe.
As he walked towards the main square, he heard voices shouting Stop GM crop trials before it's too late! Stop now!'
Joe decided to find out what was happening. When he arrived at the square, he stopped in surprise.
The square was full of walking vegetables people with large paper vegetables over their heads and bodies. Each vegetable was carrying a sign: STOP GM CROP TRIALS NOW! STOP NOW!
