The regression equation expressed as y ) 33.707x + 0.7345. The maximum removal rate and the saturation
constant of hydrogen sulfide were calculated to be Vm ) 1.36 g S/dayâkg dry bead and Ks ) 45.9 ppm respectively,
from the slope and intercept of the regression equation. The saturation constant (45.9 ppm) in this study was
smaller than the 55 ppm previously reported. If we suppose a physical meaning for Ks analogous
to that in enzymatic kinetics, a decrease in Ks suggests an enhancement in biomass affinity for hydrogen sulfide.
