A deers eye are more tuned to sensing motion than making out specific objects and shapes. Deer cannot see shades of red and have difficulty seeing green. They have no fovea centralis. But a deer uses its sense of smell and hearing more than eyesight when it comes to sensing threats.
Yes they can. scientists say the deer has a very large number of rods in his eye, which gives him the ability to see at night. Humans have more cones then rods in the eye so we have no night vision. Also when you shine an animals eyes at night and they light up, such as the deers eyes do, it means nature has given him a reflective screen in his eyes which increases his ability to see at night several fold, to go along with his additional rods in his eyes.
