XRD
XRD patterns of nano-TiO2 and micro-TiO2 in rutile and anatase phases are shown in Fig. 1 and
Fig. 2, respectively. In Fig. 1, XRD patterns exhibited strong diffraction peaks at 27º, 36º and 55º
indicating TiO2 in the rutile phase. On the other hand, in Fig. 2, XRD patterns exhibited strong
diffraction peaks at 25º and 48º indicating TiO2 in the anatase phase. All peaks are in good
agreement with the standard spectrum (JCPDS no.: 88-1175 and 84-1286). In addition, from Fig. 1(b)
and 2(b), the broaden peaks are consistent with the diffraction peaks of rutile and anatase,
respectively. They were shown that the diffraction pattern peak intensity of the TiO2 increases with
increasing particles size as shown in Fig. 1(a) and 2(a). These results suggested that the nano-TiO2
powder is composed of irregular polycrystalline. However, the effect of the amorphous materials on
the broadening of the XRD patterns of nanosized TiO2 is negligible.
