Structured interview questions were used for the students’ (individual and group) and the
teachers’ interviews to ensure consistency in the questions asked. The questions (see Appendix
1) canvass a range of issues regarding the use of praise in the classroom. All interviews were
audio-recorded and the information transcribed under the headings of the questions. The Chief
Investigator conducted the teacher interviews, which were approximately 20-30 minutes each
while the Research Assistant conducted the student group and individual interviews, which were
approximately 10-15 minutes each.
