To determine vitamin E different analytical procedure (TLC, GC, HPLC,
CEC) are utilised. Because of their easier applicability, HPLC techniques are more
frequently used. To identify all fractions normal phase HPLC technique (silica gel
HPLC column) with fl uorescence detector is used. Reverse-phase HPLC technique
(C18 ODS column) presents good reproducibility, more rapid balancing and column
highly stable but it is not able to separate γ and δ forms. Electrochemical detector
is highly sensible, but it is applicable only with reverse-phase HPLC technique,
fl uorescence detector is sensible, specifi c and is applicable with normal- and reversephase
techniques, but it does not reveal esterifi ed forms. The ultraviolet detector
presents the lowest sensibility5.
