3.2. Historical persistence of land cover types
Altogether, only 29.81% of the study site conserved its land cover
type between 1912 and 2009 (Table 4). These areas were approximately
equal for forests and pastures, occupying 16.13% of the total
area (2983 ha) and 13.59% of the total area (2513 ha), respectively,
though the persistence index is lower for forest than for pastures.
