Allnutt and Rose entered to the Bora where was a swampy place, thick weeds, many insects, and the heat was terrible. They encountered with many obstacles. For example, storms and mosquitoes that made them almost impossible to sleep. Their boat was in the mud and on both sides had many reeds. Allnutt tried to pull it for several times until they found the new channel. It was wider, freer from reeds, and had two hundred metres trees on both sides. A little later, a propeller of their boat caught up on some weeds. Allnutt wanted to continue the voyage and he went down into the water to cut it free although there was danger for him. Finally, he did it successfully. When he climbed back into the boat his body and arms and legs were full of leeches. Rose put damp salt on leeches’s bodies and helped to clean his wounds. Then, they reached the mouth of the channel. It was deep, dark, and the mangrove trees grew on both sides and their branches met a few metres over the water. But there were other problems namely every few hundred metres the bottom of the boat hit a piece of tree which lying across the channel. After that, they found a new channel and Allnutt decided to cut branches of mangrove for use as fuel of their journey. He realized that their journey was very near its end.
