For the microbial analysis 25 g of the salmon samples were added to 225 ml of Maximum Recovery Diluent (MRD, Difco) and
mixed in stomacher (Stomacher 400, A. J. Seward, London, UK) for 2 min. Two additional 10-fold dilutions were prepared by
adding 1 ml of the previous dilution to 9 ml of MRD.
