DISCUSSION
In this study we attempt to answer a question that has received inadequate attention in the CSR literature: Precisely how much should a firm spend on CSR? We addressed this issue using a supply and demand theory of the firm framework and found that there is a level of CSR investment that maximizes profit, while also satisfying stakeholder demand for CSR.
This level of investment can be determined through cost-benefit analysis. Managers can use our framework to make decisions regarding CSR investment by employing the same analytical tools used to make other investment decisions
