My name is Tuemai. "Tuemai" means the trees that line in array. My dad named me after our family's love of trees. I live in Bangkok, Thailand with my loving family-my dad, mom, grandmother and older brother. My brother is 18 years old, and studying in a university. My mom is 53 years old, my dad is 57 years old and my grandmother is 76 years old. I am 16 years old, and currently attending 10th grade. My house is surrounding by a lot of trees. They provide a lot of shades. This makes our house not as hot as the outside or in the city. In Thailand, usually it is very hot, and the sun always shines. It rains in raining season almost everyday. And I really love rain because it makes everything clean. It washes away all dirt, leaves on streets. In Bangkok, there is no winter. If there is, it hardly gets cold. We don't have to wear thick clothes. My dad says in the past it was very cold. But today the weather has changed. He said if I want to feel the cold weather, I have to go to the north of Thailand.
In my school, there are around 50 students per class, 16 classes per grade, and 7th to 12th grades. Can you calculate how many students in my school? My school starts at 8:00am. I always arrive before it starts around 6:30 - 7:00am. And it's over around 3:10 - 4:00pm. I usually return home around 4:30pm. During the school year, there are so many activities to do. But I can't always participate because of all my homework and deadlines. I hardly have time for any activity. But, there are a few “must do” activities that we "must" join. One of them is "Color sport day". It is one of the biggest sport event in my school which I am in charge of managing the 7th graders on the parade. I'm just like their big brother. It is kind of fun but a bit boring. However, I still enjoy it! I have to help them after finishing classes. Also, I have so many friends who share the same interests, eg. animes, games, school works, drawing project, movies, comedic videos and lots more. I usually chat with my friends about these topics in the morning before my classes and during the breaks.
To help out my parents, I have 3 responsibilities to do at home. The first is sweeping all the falling leaves on the floor and street in front of my house once everyday. Sometimes, if there are too many leaves, I will sweep once in the morning and again in the evening. The second duty is refilling empty drinking water bottles. Usually, there are about 6-8 bottles that need to be refilled each day. It is just an easy work. And the last one is clearing my bedroom. It's also my dad’s & brother’s room. After that, I clean the 1st floor and my computer desk. These areas are all mine so I have to take a good care of them. If there is any special request that my mom and dad want me to do or help, I always accept immediately. After all these works, my family and I regularly enjoy having dinner together. On our weekend or free time, we love going out to find a good new interesting restaurant. Spending time, and doing things with my family is my happiest moment. In the evening, when my parents are tired from work, always I give them massage. They told me that I am good at it. So, I have been started to study more on the Internet and books. Whenever my grandparents come to visit, my grandmother always asks for my massage. And I always oblige. All of them love my massage as much as I love giving to them.
Every morning , I really love to ride a bicycle in the morning. About 6.10 am. The air is fresh and sunrise is beautiful. I also like to ride after coming back from school. And, another thing that I love to do is drawing. it has always been one of my favorite hobby. When I draw, it's like telling a story. Every time I draw, I feel my mind, heart and soul connecting to my story. To me it is very meaningful. My family loves to cook. Usually, we enjoy many great foods on the weekend. My grandmother normally cooks old traditional Thai foods. They are always very delicious. She keeps all her recipes in her head. And, I always help her pounding ingredients with a stone mortar and pestle, an ancient technique just likes a stone-aged blender. It's very aromatic when everything are ground and well mixed. My family cooks food daily, and especially "special" foods on weekends. Whenever there is a long weekend or holidays, our family will travel to find a camping area in the countryside. This year, my dad wants to take us to a mountain peak on north of Thailand. It will be very cold there and the sky will be so dark. The stars
and Milky Way will be easily visible. This mountain peak is called "Phu-Soi-Dao". Its name means "a peak that reaches stars"
I don't know how it is going to be in the US. but I really want to go because I want a new experience.
I only see in movies. House, People, and surroundings at home will be different from there. Just hearing of living with a U.S. host family really makes me excited. In my life I never go anywhere far from my family alone. This is going to be one of the biggest events in my life. I love to travel, learn and experience new things. In the future, when I have learnt many things, I will become a storyteller. I will tell what I have seen. Our world has many beautiful things that wait to be discovered
When my brother and me were little kids, we usually had so many problems with each other and our dad always stopped us. Problems were always about playing games, back then our house have only Playstation. When it was our free time we always argued who was going to play first. We had multiplayer games too, but we did not like to play them. Our argument is getting more severe, My dad would come and stop our games. But sometime my brother and I would allow one another to play first. Now, we don't usually have a big fight. we understand each other well. We both live peacefully without any argument.
