Summer monsoon circulation produces a warm climate and
abundant rainfall, which is suitable for the growth of rice in the
southern China. Main irrigated rice is planted in these provinces,
and accounted for approximately 90% of the total rice areas of
China. National standard agriculture meteorological stations with
longtime observation and records of one typical rice cultivar were
selected in order to calibrate and evaluate CERES rice model. Nine
representative rice stations were selected among distributed different
provinces across the southern China (Fig. 1). The selected
nine agricultural meteorological stations have the detailed and
perfect observed records of early rice and late rice with growth
and components of yields as well as management in the same
station. Information of rice planting date and climate at rice
stations is presented Table 1.
