Phra Kaew Morakot Emerald Buddha (or official name Phra Phuttha Maha Mani Rattana Patimakon) is the palladium of the Kingdom of Thailand, afigurine of the
sitting Buddha, made of green Nephrite (rather than emerald), clothed in gold,
and about 45 cm tall. It is kept in theTemple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) on the grounds of the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
Wat Phra Kaew or Temple of the Emerald Buddha; full official name Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand.
It is a "potent religio-political symbol and the palladium (safeguard) of Thai society".
It is located in Phra Nakhon District, the historic centre of Bangkok, within the precincts of the Grand Palace.
