In conclusion, we found that OTA was more toxic than ZEA and
a-ZOL. The combinations of OTA + ZEA, OTA + a-ZOL, and OTA +
ZEA + a-ZOL showed antagonism, and the combination of
ZEA + a-ZOL showed antagonism, an additive effect, and synergism
at different concentrations. However, the results for the combined
mycotoxins were affected by the type of cells used, the end point of
cytotoxicity, and other factors. Therefore, the interactions of
combined mycotoxins should be determined or revalidated in continuous
toxicological data.
