Franchising involves application of the management skill and loyalty of a dedicated owner-operator. The franchisee has a direct, substantial, and continuing personal and financial stake in the success of the franchising business. This is not always true of hired managers, and is unpredictable in independent dealers who may have other interests. A franchised business therefore often reflects a greater level of intensity of management at the retail level. In many lines of business, involvement by a franchisee can be the difference between the commercial success of failure of the franchised business.
