Bull gear: Drives pinion shafts at specified speed and support thrust forces from pinions caused by pressure at backside of impellers and gear meshing. Bull gear and pinions have single helical gear teeth.

Tilting pad journal bearing: Five bearing pads are arranged in circle in the metal shell that can be divided at horizontal split faces. Bottom half shell accommodates three pads and top half dose two.
---
Each pad support pinion shaft and can tilt on respective pivot in response to dislocation of shaft center caused by change of load thus aligning the center of the five pads to that of the shaft. This action of pads prevent high shaft vibration which is otherwise liable to occur on high speed rotating shaft.
