Knowledge management is an appropriate discipline for enabling a smooth integration
of these new needs that have arisen from the present economic, social and
technological context, into higher education. The application of knowledge
management should aim at both internal reorganisation of resources and improving
teaching and research (CRUE 2002). It is clear in the era of a knowledge society and
a knowledge economy that universities have a major role to play. Stoffle (1996)
