On the installation side, the instrumentation and wiring
was being consolidated. After having studied the total
system installation costs as a package, we decided to do it
ourselves. Proper instruments as well as transducers were
selected, and wiring and conduit requirements were laid
out. Extreme precaution was taken regarding grounding
and noise problems. The control room was laid out with
human engineering principles in mind. A large graphic
layout was an essential part of it. The control room was
designed to be the nerve center of the entire process (Fig.
3).
