Phase Modules (3): The Phase Modules convert the DC voltage on the DC Bus to three-phase AC power. This power is delivered to the rear Traction Motors to be converted into mechanical energy. The Phase Modules constantly adjust the voltage and the frequency of the AC power to comply with the torque command set by the Drivetrain ECM (DTC). The gate command and feedback signals for the modules are transmitted via fiber optic signals between the Interface Modules and the Phase Modules.
Contactor Assembly (4): The Contactor Mounting Assembly contains two high-voltage contactors. These Contactors close to send power from the DC Bus to the first of the Dynamic Retarding Grid’s two resistive circuits.
