Our findings demonstrate that the management of early-stage ovarian
cancer in clinical practice is widely divergent from evidence-based
guidelines in elderly women. Many factors likely contributed to these
deviations from standard of care and further efforts should be directed
toward exploring why recommended care is not delivered [32,33].
Given the poor prognosis of recurrent ovarian cancer, initiatives to optimize
the management of women with early stage ovarian cancer are
clearly warranted.
