REPSI provide a forum for introducing and exchanging research methods and findings among scholars and policy officials in mainland southeast asia. the initiative focus primarily but not exclusively on environment and development challenges in upland areas.RESPI is coordinated by world resources institute an environmental think-tank with staff in chiang mai thailand and washington DC usa. it is volves local regional and international organizations working in the mekong region
the activities was structured to provide opportunities for regional exchange as well as to produce original analysis in each study sites, the teams met several times as a group in 3/2000 they met to discuss a common framework and method for analysis the international symposium on montane mainland in transition 2. the following year a core group of researchers from study teams the authors of this report's met to identify common themes among the case studies and draft the recommendations included here
