The aim of this paper, therefore, is to explore how the local government authority deals
with the community-based solid waste management. What are the limitation of public participation
towards this activity and what are the factors related to that we have to concern. The findings of
this paper will applied the case of Songkhla Municipality, located in the Southern Thailand, and
the community-based solid waste management projects conducted in Somwang community of
Songkhla Municipality.
