STUDY II
Study II was designed to offer concurrent validity for the Relational Satisfaction
Scale (RSS). To accomplish the goal, the established group outcome measures of
loneliness, consensus, and cohesion were investigated for their relationship to relational
satisfaction. Loneliness was included because research has shown that group
members who are not lonely are more satisfied (Anderson et al., 1995b). Thus,
members should report loneliness when relational satisfaction is low. Consensus and
cohesion have confirmed relationships with several group outcomes, including measures
of satisfaction with the communication (Anderson & Martin, 1999; Pavitt &
Curtis, 1998).
