Abstract In this paper the design criteria for a Maximun Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller of a dc-dc converter for
photovoltaic (PV) applications are presented. The switching converter matches a single panel with a battery and performs the maximum power point tracking at the battery's terminals instead that at the panel's output. Comparisons among analytic results, simulations and experimental measurements on a laboratory prototype are presene and discusse
In this paper the design criteria for a MPPT-Out controller of a PV battery charger are presented.
It has been demonstrated that the photovoltaic battery charger can be made using a simple converter without feedback; a proper choice of the MPPT controller parameters can be carried out on the basis of suitable equations obtained by using an approach similar to that one discussed in [7].
The built prototype is characterised by good performances in terms of MPPT efficiency and current regulation of the battery.
