Amitriptyline
and doxepine have been recommended
for treating cancer pain and have been of
benefit in managing postherpetic neuralgia
that often plagues cancer victims (67).
These drugs in standard antidepressant
doses are generally favored for their sedative
effects but, where sedation is a problem,
imipramine or chlorimipramine may
be preferred. Both have been effective in
the experience of Kocher and others (63).
