Fish farmers in Bangban district suffering as their taptim fish stocks have begun to die off due to the cold weather.
most of the fish raised in baskets have stopped eating since the onset of the sudden cold spell this week, said paiboon ketyos, who owns a fish farm in tambon chanee in bandban district.
He said they also no longer swim to the bottom of the river and are often seen near the suface, gasping for air, and many have died already.
The fish are farmed in baskets along the banks of the chao phraya river which runs through bangban district and parts of neighbouring ang thong province.
Farmers are worried their fish will die masse, which would, plunge them into debt.
