Healthy foods were thus defined as those high in protein (e.g. fish, pulses), dietary fibre (e.g. pulses) and in important nutrients such as folate, magnesium, potassium, and vitamins A, C and K (e.g. vegetables).26 Unhealthy foods were defined as being high in saturated fat (e.g. fast food), trans fat (e.g. junk food), salt (e.g. processed foods) and added sugar,26 which have been associated with obesity, poor health and sedentary lifestyles.
