Image-based modeling systems divide the 3D reconstruction process into three main steps
First, correspondences between a set of homologous points on two or more photographs are interactively established. The 3D position and orientation of the camera (i.e. its extrinsic parameters) are determined [8]. They allow to link 2D image pixels to 3D point co-ordinates. A self- calibration process follows that computes the intrinsic camera parameters (usually, only the focal length) in order to obtain a metric, up to scale reconstruction
