I'm grown up with the internet/can't really remember a time that it didn't exist. Can confidently say that I've used the internet daily for the last 10 years at least.
I'm not really complaining because technology is a wonderful thing and really I've only got myself to blame but I really wish I could live my life without scrolling through my phone or computer, even if just for a few weeks to see what it's like.
I wish I could get into bed and not spend half an hour on my phone for no reason.
The scariest thing is that I'm actually not that bad compared to some of my friends. I never really pay attention to my phone when I'm with a friend unless it actually rings. I've had experiences where I've been talking to my friend in the car only to realise that they are ignoring me because they are playing on their phone. One time I was talking to a friend of a friend at a dinner party (we weren't seated yet) and she stopped talking mid-conversation to take a snapchat of herself.
What the heck did people do before the internet existed? I am asking this in the least smart-ass way possible. I can't imagine going about my life without messing on my phone.
Has anyone got any advice? I know the obvious answer is to just not do it and to put my phone away, but I'm not sure how to stop when it's so heavily ingrained into my daily behaviour.
